I’m Matthew D Boruta, the proud owner of Bankruptcy Law Office of Matthew D Boruta.

After pursuing a law degree, I began my first job at a prominent Indiana law firm, which specialized in corporate bankruptcy. From there, I leapfrogged to an even larger consumer bankruptcy firm.

While I enjoyed assisting people with their bankruptcy needs, I did not appreciate the mill that the firm had become. I wanted to get out of the daily grind but still make a career out of helping people.

I realized that the only way to make this happen was to break out of my corporate job and venture into a business of my own. I partnered with an attorney to create an organization that can offer honest advice and customer-centric services. I gradually learned that it was simpler and more rewarding to manage all the bankruptcy aspects myself, rather than work with others. It has now been over twenty years since I’ve been exclusively practicing as a bankruptcy attorney.

In 2005, new revisions were made to the bankruptcy laws which proved to be a game changer as they led to more paperwork and more investigation. I found it exciting as I got to face the challenge of creating and interpreting new regulations for clients. Also, when the number of bankruptcy filings declined, I could devote more time to an individual case.

I believe in the next two years bankruptcy filings will increase significantly as the economic indicators are prophesying a downturn. The housing bubble will possibly burst when banks give credit to people they know cannot pay, which is an injustice, especially when you have witnessed a sheriff’s sales. I feel strongly about the subject, and at the Indiana Bar Association and the National Association of Consumer bankruptcy attorneys, where I am an active member, I discuss the ramifications that my clients have faced.
